Assorted RV, Campers and Funky Rides We've Seen Along the Adventure : One thing that has always amazed me is the amount of love and money people go into dressing up their Trucks, Campers, Overland Vehicles and customizing them to make them unique and fit their desired travel style When ever we see a cool vehicle, an out of the ordinary camper or unique RV, we always try and stop and snap a few images of it. If the owners are around, we usually wait till they come out so we can talk with them about it and see the hidden treasures they've added to make their ride unique. Bad Motor Scooters : Before the adventure of Every Miles A Memory began, Bonish Photo existed mostly by covering events and various motorcycle shows that came through the Michigan area. Having grown up on a motorcycle from the time I could walk, owning one almost my entire life and losing a brother in a motorcycle acident, they've played a major role in my entire life. Cindy and I attended many of the Motorcycle rally's around Michigan, did photo shoots for many of the builders in the Michigan area, and became good friends with the tight knit biker community. Motorcycles are still one of my favorite things to ride and photograph, and I almost never pass a bike show that I dont stop to look around. 2009 North American International Auto Show - Detroit Michigan : While home in Michigan during the winter, I checked out the North American International Auto Show that kicks off the New Year in Detroit. This year was special with all the buzz being generated with new Electric Vehicles and Hybrid being the Keyword for 2009. Press week is fun as you get to see the vehicles without all the large crowds and can usually talk with many of the designers and PR People. Hood Ornament Collection : After years of shooting cars and motorcycles, one thing that I found was I was always paying attention to while photographing was the little details. I love the hood ornaments the older, cooler cars wore proudly on the front of their huge hoods. The new models have forgotten about this chorme statements for aero-dynamics and sleek lines. But the classics had style and knew how to make a statement. So I started going back through all my photo shoots and found I had a pretty neat collection of hood ornaments. My only regret is that I would have taken a picture or wrote down which hood ornament went with which car...OOPS! Four Wheels Never Looked So Good : I'm not sure if it was having a father who worked for the one of the Big 3 his whole life, or growing up in the Mid-West or just the simple fact that I was raised in the Motor City, I've always had a thing for cars. Whether they're some Italian exotic, a beat up Rat Rod, or a classic Hot Rod, I cant get enough of them. Cindy is one of the only women I've met who likes them as much as I do and is always up for a good car show or Figure 8 Derby. Traveling around North America, we've had a chance to see some cool rides along the way. Maybe it was my love of the American Dream of that classic Road Trip along Route 66 that spawned our idea of Every Miles A Memory. Jolly Roger Customs - Milford Michigan : Jolly Roger Customs started with one bike that took the industry by storm when it took first place at the Annual Sturgis Biker Rally in South Dakota. This custom builder located in Milford Michigan fabs up some rolling works of art that almost look like they should be in a museum rather than a garage. Ron Finch - The Man Who Invented the Custom Motorcycle : Ron Finch is a multi-talented artist who single handedly started the custom biker craze back in the 60's. He is known world-wide for his outrageous custom motorcycles and his mastery of color and design in paint. METALife is Ron's most recent venture where he brings metal to life by sculpting found metal to create creatures, plants and even a giant motorcycle. To hang out with Ron at his studio in Pontiac Michigan is a treat in itself. The guy is one of the most down to earth people I've ever met, and you would never know he is such an icon in the motorcycle world. His studio is almost cooler than his bikes and made from recycled pieces of metal and glass he finds along his miles of travels. You can sit for hours and listen to Ron explain where he found various pieces that make up this amazing house. His studio is my dream house!
