Waterfalls Galleries

Waterfalls Around North America : There's something about waterfalls that keep bringing us back and searching out new ones. They're usually set in picturesque surroundings, provide a nice hike to get to them, and once set up, we can waste the day away forgetting about anything else in the world.

Some areas are blessed with numerous waterfalls like Michigan's Upper Peninsula. I think we spent a whole month roaming around that swatch of Mother Nature enjoying every minute of it.

Yosemite National Park is another Mecca for waterfalls and is home to some of the tallest falls in North America. Some are accessable right from the roadside, while others offer world class hikes to get you right to the bottom of them.

Another spot that we've fell in love with when it comes to waterfalls is the Smokey Mountains. North Carolina, Virginia and Tennessee are all loaded with them and provide access to dozens all within a short drive of one another.

This is another gallery that will be updated regularly as the adventure rolls on. Check back often to see which new falls we've found and photographed.

Bond Falls - Michigan's Upper Peninsula : Named for Oliver S. Bond, who once owned the property the State Park now resides in; Bond Falls has been attracting anglers and sightseers since the late 1880's.

The Nearby Bond Falls Flowage was created in 1940, when a dam was built across the Middle Branch of the Ontonagon RIver. The new day blocked the flow of the water down the old river ded, causing the falls to dry up. An outlet in the dam soon corrected the situation and Bond Falls has been flowing ever since.

We found this attraction by accident while photographing Agate Falls, another waterfall just a few miles away from Bond Falls. While we were there, another couple asked what we thought of Bond falls to which we replied "We passed that one up to come here?"

They made us promise we'd go back to see this sight as they told us it was the "Most beautiful falls they have ever seen!" When we pulled up, we agreed and ended up spending a week camped beside the empty Bond Falls Flowage.

We had the entire place to ourselves and in the weeks time, only saw one other couple! This was as close to Heaven as I think we've been on our adventure so far.
