While spending a few months traveling through Baja, we were able to witness this spectacle which is one I'll never forget! No one knows why the mobulas jump out of the water, but they do it non-stop and are quite the acrobats.
These were photographed just off the beach in East Cape which is a world renowned spot for Kite Surfing and Sail Boarding due to its winter winds. Luckily for Cindy and I, the waters were calm and the Mobulas were jumping almost constantly while we stayed here.
This was also the location where I tipped over in my kayak while trying to photograph these acrobats and dumped about $8000 worth of camera gear into the ocean. Luckily, we had captured these shots the previous day, so they are very special to us, as they are some of our most costly shots ever taken...LOL
